Earthquakes etc.
Never a dull moment when you live in such a place as this. Between threats of terrorist attacks, volcanos erupting and earthquakes, Indonesia has been in the news a lot these days. You most likely have heard about the recent earthquake in Yogyakarta over the weekend. Well don't worry about me, I'm fine. I know some news stations said it happened in Jakarta.. and that's just not true. It happened about 5 hours away from here. The sad thing is all of damage it has done to an already struggling part of Indonesia. With the death toll constantly rising, its a very sad situation. My parents and I were in Yogya a few months ago and met some people who lived right where it hit. Lots of prayer is needed, not only for the grieving families but that all of the promised Aid will arrive. Quite a number of national teachers at the school have lost friends and family as well. What makes it even worse is if the volcano Merapi erupts.. just please keep that area in your prayers. Apparently they (geologists) call this area the Pacific Ring of Fire.. which is an exciting name. The Pacific Ring of Fire, The Belt of Terror... lots to think about. But for some reason I still feel safe here.. call it a coping mechanism, call it denial, call it my trust in God but I'm okay. However please pray for this situation!
